Sometimes it is difficult to pierce the dream state

to wakefulness.

The dreamer does not want to wake up,

enjoying that state

which is neither awake or sleep.

The world barges in

with vales, walls and other guides,

which serve to direct consciousness.

These directors or mis-directors

leaves her gasping, guessing and grasping for a clue to what she remembers

as beautiful, essential, and real.

I think that applies to all of us.

We sometimes fight for the essentials of waking life

that make it worth living.

We think we have it, but it is so illusive.

We want to hold on to that sublime feeling that it is just around the corner.

cloudy

by Joan Myles

is it morning yet

my own thought cloud too thickly

the inner light and joy

the beam beyond the dream of living

the world closes in sometimes

veils to walls to masquerading guides

leave me guessing

leave me gasping

grasping for what I think I know and remember

all that is beautiful and important
