Joan Dec. 20

The Poet’s Promis

by Joan Myles

In language I live

and in living I linger--

Her world is defined and existsin language.

>From simple words like finger orsieve.

These words are full of meaning.

A single word can connote so many different meanings.

Simple and complex.

A sliver of love.

Wow? What could prove the pointmore.

Sliver and love  where each word defines the other.

A sliver  can mean paucity  or hope.

A sliver of love is all she needs.

He offered only a sliver oflove.

Living silvery river.

A beautiful sounding phrase.

There is so much possibility in thisphrase.

You can look down at it.

You can be emersed in it.

Quick silver is deadly, while it isbeautiful.

So it depends on  your perspective.

Either within or above, or besides

or any other perspective you canexperience it from.

These are all concepts that define ourlives

as much as the so called concrete facts ofwhat exists.

It is all in the language.

a finger

a sieve

a sliver of Love

--living silvery river

within and above
