The Source
C By Brad Corallo
Word count 177
Within the deep places of the ancient cavern,
the crystal spring, Like cascading diamonds
ascends from the pool adorned with lapis lazuli.
The source of all life and growth.
that belongs to no one
and yet belongs to everyone.
The fountain that was not made
by the hand of man.
eternal and elemental,
the universal counter weight
to oppose the Dark Tower.
The source of all renewal.
For a lifetime I have sought it.
At times it was almost within my reach
only to fade, vanishing slowly,
leaving naught but
vague, misty after-images.
To feel its cool spray anointing this weary vessel,
to taste its revitalizing waters,
for this I have travelled far.
In the seeking I have learned That
belief is as crucial as action.
As I enter the twilight of my days,
I fight to remain resolute.
I know now that
reaching the spring offers
the only hope to begin anew,
reigniting the essential joy of just being!
Special thanks to Robert Hunter for his lyric to "Ripple."
