Joan

 

Pool ofwaiting refers to the ambiotic fluid that we all wait in for so long.  

Theplan  refers in part to the DNA plan, 

andother biological conditions. 

But youdidn’t let them control you.  

Evenbefore you were born you ran of  your own volition. 

Youhad  your own plan. 

I thinkthis in part relates to the conditions imposed on you with your blindness, 

but itis a much broder statement  about free will. 

You arenot going to be limited by limitations imposed on your senses.

I was born in a pool of waiting.

So clearly

The plan shaped me

 

Before their labels and test tubes

Before their throbbing smiles and foggy hands

Claimed me

 

I jumped up and ran

 

No matter my paralysis

The air opened itself  

Free as my breath declared me
