Dark Reflectionsin the Covid 19 mirror

C By Brad Corallo

This  piecedescribes  the history of how  we got here.

The supposition is that something went wrong.

Maybe it is that we have not developed enough.

Maybe we have to pass the test  that we are meant to survive in the world .

Deep in themists of history

something wentterribly wrong.

Growing fromfalsehoods and cowardice.

Out of necessity,we became nomads.

Food, water andthe seasons dictated our regular migrations.

Such was ourconception of time.

With our combinedefforts,

we slew wildbeasts for sustenance.

We drank of therivers without fear.

We breathed theair of the new morning.

We gave thanksfor the annual regeneration of the Earth.

A very nice stanza.  It is very poetic, particularly  in the use of the r sound.

In time, welearned to grow edible plants.

We made alliancewith wolves and wildcats.

If such had onlybeen enough!

Being in balance with nature is part of the way weneed to  bee.

We have to learn to stem our yearning for powerande dominance.

And thoughultimately, we developed civilization,

the falsehoodsand cowardice were still with us.

As centuriespassed,

we explored manyrealms , dark and strange.

We haven’t learned to quell our darker nature.

Or, better than that, we haven’t learned tointegrate it.

assembled a religion from power differentials.

I think the meaning of powered differentials needsto be defined.

We crystallizedinto unnumbered meaningless subgroups.

We developedingenious weapons

and foughtendlessly among our selves.

Some of us have learned to live with others.

Maybe more now than ever.

But we are still existing while the undevelopedones thrive.

Some had visionsand some dreamed dreams;

vague whispersabout a better way of living.

They were largelyignored!

Not entirely.

In time weinvented ways of destroying ourselves.

Almost blithely,we fouled the waters and poisoned the air.

Don’t forget about people like Gretta Thornburg. Some of us are crying out to be heard.

And here we aretoday,

cowering likeworms in our dwellings.

Masks coveringour faces like criminals.

Hiding fromsomething we can't even see.

If we pulled together, we could have beaten theplague.

We haven’t got that far.,

yet.  I havehopes.

And wonderingsorrowfully, what has happened to our world?

Perhaps, thisquestion is a bit late in coming!

Never to late..
