Sally sub for Oct 22
A beautiful poem of a dream of deceased husband
in this season of the year.
A beautiful reminiscence of him and thecommunity
as they prefare for Christmas.
The poem is as usuall wonderfullycrafted.
The dream fades as the sleep ends.
But it is not sad.
She looks forward to seeing him many moretimes in the land of dreams.
It is also telling of the communitysupport system
as it was , and I suspect ,
still is,
though different people are involved.
So many lovely lines.
I’ve noted a few.
Random nights, through the alchemy of dreaming,
I wander familiar never-trodden paths
of seasonal markets while holding my husband’sarm.
Once more alive, he chooses a plump pumpkin
to become the jack o’ lantern we had not carvedin life.
Glistening cranberries, ripe for wintermuffins,
join loaves of rustic bread in our basket.
Join loafs of rustic breads in our basket
Bright holly berries adorn a pine wreath
we will hang on our country cottage’s door
to welcome village neighbors’ Yule calls.
In the darkness of the present, he fades
to return another time in dreams of harvest andcommunity.
