DeAnna sub for May 22

This is a perfect poem for the Avocet, if yourinterested.

There is nothing new here,

but you have the gravitas  and authority to  speak and explain things in a new-oldway.

You’ve connected people welfare with the wellfare of all of Earth’s children.

You show no separation between the species, including humans.

And, you speak of Mother Earth as an  actual spirit.

Gia, I tink her name is.

We must all learn to live with nature

as the old one’s did

if we want to live at all.

Basically, we are all the same

and respect  for one means respect for all including ourselves.

What We Know

Asfirst nation people, we understand

therespect owed when we take the lives

ofour Mother Earth’s other children.

Wetake only what we need to live.

Webelieve that bear, wolf and deer are our kin.

Welearn much about how to live from them.

Wetoo will return to the earth when we die.

Watchingour furred and feathered relatives we see

whenone buffalo begins jumping for joy,

otherswill join him in the celebration.

buffaloshed tears at the loss of a calf.

Allmothers will fight to protect their young,

whetherthey be she-bear or tiny song bird.

Theywill do what they must to keep their children safe.

Wesee that all life has equal value.

Eachone of our brothers and sisters

areprecious members of the family,

allhave unique gifts

thatfit them for their place in the dance of life.

Becausewe understand past, present and future,

peoplemust choose wisely the paths we walk

sothat our Mother’s children might live.

forseven generations into tomorrow.

Ifwe do not hold these lessons in our hearts and minds,

thennone of our children’s children will be born

andour Mother Earth will dance alone in sorrow

forbear, deer, buffalo and us when we have gone.
