I'm not sure I sent this.
D-DayVigil
This piece captures a moment in history.
It is a story of her Grandmother anxiouslytrying to maintain the mundane chores oflife,
while her future husband is fighting for hercountry and life.
As usual it captures the mood of the moment.
You have a talent for that. Very nice.
Ontenterhooks in her parents’ home
I’m not familiar with the term tenter hooks. What does it mean?
Inthe war-ravaged English Midlands,
shesat and watched as the sky darkened
withfog and clusters of aircraft,
greatbirds of prey now bent on
anunknown mission of salvation,
Formeda relentless migration toward the coast.
It is a little confusing here what coastand what plaines. But I take it is the invasion of Normandy because of the title. Her boy friendis involved , so I take it he has taken off for Europpe.
Withrestless energy, she stirred a pot of lentil soup,
Switchedon the wireless, and put the kettle on the hob.
Sensingher American paratrooper beau
wasinvolved in this frenzy, the young woman
whowould become my mother prayed silently
amidstdroning planes and simmering soup.
