This is a mixed poem of hope and despair.

The despair comes at night.

Or in the gbroader sense,

mankind’s dismal and frightening periods ofdarkness.

There has always been a dawn and a day inwich we  show our potential ofenlightenment.  When slight,

yet enticing light blooms,

become bright,

we regain our hopes for an enlightenedworld.

The poet hopes this light of hope is alwaysthere at the end of despair.

But his overall view of man is that he is adisappointment.

I would say, where there is darkness, thereis also light.

The story isn’t over.

Brad sub for Feb 23

As night creeps, inexorably

toward the inevitability of dawn,

we are Finally able to exhale.

Built up nocturnal tensions shrink

seeming to slowly retreat , catfooted.

Our astonishing gift, The new day,

slowly unfolds its petals

equally, for all to partake.

The waxing light

pale at first

but with expanding intensity

begins to outline and illuminate

the fragile bloom of hope.

May it always be so

to light the way for

our disappointing, blindly struggling

pathetic species .

And the promise of

all its rainbow potential!
