aI used to take a similar ferry to Coney Island to visitfamily as well.

Everything you describe was the same,

except they didn’t have vendors on the boat.

You  brought back suchwonderful memories.

Thank you.

Shouldn’tthat be running,  rather than run?

Comforting  my spirit,rather than comfort.

Statin Island Ferry

Before Varizano Bridge was built,

we'd board the orange bulk boat to

take  us to visit NJ family.

At seven, I loved getting out of the car, run to peer at the

sun-sprinkled waves left in our wake.

Cool air felt innocently clean,

feet thumping combined with cries of "saltedPretzels" as I

emptied all my nickels and dimes

to buy a huge Lemonade and a heavenly salted 8-shapedmiracle!

The movement of the water, rumble of voices and

motion of the boat felt like a hug, comfort to my spirit.

Everything was magic until the car started, signaled leavinggoodbye.

"Goodbye, friend" I wispered, "see ya!"
