This is an astounding description of waking upand getting through the day.
Brad sub for October 21
Unheralded Friday morning battle.
The vbattle is rarely talked about. But you’vedescribed it eloquently.
C by Brad Corallo
Word count 153
Swimming up from anesthetized depths,
torpor like a robe of concrete
Beautiful description.
dragging me back down.
Somehow try to fight against
the energy sapping bonds.
Knowing with every fiber
that it is too soon!
Would so like to let go
and Sink back gloriously
Yes, it would be nice to sleep just a little bitlonger. To slip back into sleep.
.
But must perform-
after all it is show business and-
the show must go on!
One must get on with life. It’s a show. All of life is a stage, etc.
In such moments,
Caffeine is my only friend!
Drink up.Let it impart its wakefulness, or the next best thing.
Gradually I pull myself up
with broken nails and blistered fingertips.
Broken nails and fingertips. What a dramaticpicture. Cudos.
Pain remains like an over wound fishing reel.
seated deeply in muscles
surrounding the Atlas vertebrae.
How did you ever come up with that.
It describes the lingering brain fog of still not quite being awake.
Cudos
Slowly, depending upon excessive institutionalcoffee
I approach something like
semi-functional awareness.
Only semi functional.
You hope tghat with accomplishment
will come real wakefulness.
You are there.
Maybe the activities themselves will add to yurpresence.
I don't feel adequate to the day's demands.
And yet, I am there
making a supreme effort
to focus and do
the necessary deeds at hand.
Hoping the magic of accomplishment
will ultimately, fully energize
and animate my weary strivings.
