This is a short, to the point piece.  



The poem is stark



. The  air is chill, 



and the circumstances creates a chill within. 



Someone you naturally care about is being wheeled away bythe funeral home . 



The realization is a chilling one.



The rattle of the gurney on the pavement goes through you.

Your crisp night air



made me shiver



in the silent parking area--



I'd forgotten a sweater.




 


The chill came from within



as the stretcher rattled on pavement--



in my whole being--



as the funeral director took you



away.
