This is a cryptic piece.
You have given the gift ofunderstanding,
but in the end she complains thatshe does not understand.
Would it be less of a mystery if weknew what the gift was about.
How is it related to understanding?
How can understanding anything be stolen or broken.
I know that one can loseunderstanding that one used to have.
Is that the point?
That one can lose understanding byholding on to an idea
and lose the ability to be flexible
and the understanding.
All tings change.
If you can’t change to accommodatethat which is understood
you have turned it into a formula.
Formulas don’t change
That is not understanding.
Is that what yu mean when you sayshe is holding on to her own wheel of fire.
It has become to hot to hold.
To understand anything,
you must be free to let go of anyideas you might have had
and let your mind free to follow it.
Joyfully I shared with her
the gift of understanding.
In the passage of time,
she began to fret and worry,
fearing breakage, theft and loss.
She came an asked me.
"What is this burden you havebound me too?"
"You have bound yourself.
You are grasping your own wheel offire,
you have only to loosen your hold
to be free of the pain."
"I don't understand!"
"Then either the gift hasfailed you or
you have failed the gift.
Which, in the evolution of wisdom istruly more dire?
Better perhaps had you cast it awayor
Passed it on to one struggling witha tortured mind.
The gift was aligned and freelygiven.
But you have twisted it,
into the instrument of your ownobsession
ultimately, obscuring allunderstanding!"
