This piece isabout that song.

It tells a lotmore about what the song sings about.

Its aboutstarting afresh.

All thespirits are going there to sing the old year out,

and burn ingit to the ground.

The spiritshave been misunderstood

and they arejust going to burn it down

and make  room for the new year.

Sounds like agood idea.

Begin Again

C By Brad Corallo

Inspired by ZoeMulford's magical song: "Welcome in Another Year"

Word count 181

They come fromall points of the compass.

Surreptitiouslyand unherrolded each making their pilgrimage

to a bare, brown, isolated, winter field.

The chosen siteis in a deep hollow.

They have no wishto be observed.

For time out ofmind,

their rites havebeen maligned and misunderstood.

Several hours beforemidnight,

the great bonfireis lighted.

When the flamesbegin to kiss the dark night sky,

the drummers,softly at first

seek the properrhythm.

Once found, thepeople begin to dance.

Round and roundlike the great wheel of the year.

For parts of thedance they join hands.

At other points, they dance together in small groups

and at times,singly.

They arebanishing many unwanted and destructive things

that have beenaccreted during the past year.

As they feeltheir burdens lighten,

brimming wineskins are passed among them.

Thus cleansed, filled with joy and hope,

they welcome in anew year.

Fully open to thepossibility

of unimaginablepromise.
