Critiques for Group 2 session 8-27-20
Hey There Friends of Group 2,
I listened to the recording of the session and found the feedback on my
piece to be interesting and for the most part on target. Admittedly it
wasn't "a warm fuzzy" and it painted a rather dark picture. However I
sincerely believe that the human species has not done its best and needs to
pick up its game very soon or the consequences will not be good to say the
least. And now, to my belated critiques.
***
1. Valerie's piece:
As always a strong sincere piece. There are a few things which you may or
may not all ready be aware of:"
Inuendo" change to innuendo. "perserverence" change to perseverance. Also
consider changing prayer to pray as it may work better with the tense at
that point. With a bit of polishing, this can become an even better good
piece.
2. Leonard's piece:
Ah, I have had many conversations about blindness and Zoom. Your use of
irony is most effective. I have done tele-care therapy over the telephone on
both sides i.e. therapist and client. I find the phone perfectly adequate.
But if seeing my mug will make someone's day, I don't mind obliging. But if
such makes their day, maybe they should get a life LOL!
Alice's piece:
I was a bit surprised by the ending but liked it. The piece maintained
strong interest from line to line. However, a question: other than the
obvious, what is the meaning of "Overmorrow?" Is it a place from somewhere
or an invention of the author?
Joan's piece:
Again, Joan challenges our interpretive skills. My take is that the lines:
"Close the eye and open
The
Heart."
sum up the broad meaning of this poem. We live in a visual society where
what is seen is judged. Perhaps allowing what we see to go to the heart
before judging is what is truly needed, especially in these complex times.
