I just want to say that we are an absolutely terrific group of writers to
share with, and learn from.  I am delighted to be part of it.

Brad's Critiques

1. Valerie's piece: 

"Against impossible odds, we cling to love, a strand of hope, thinner than
fear." 
What a great line! As with the day and seasons, the river is an apt metaphor
for life. In Taoism one tries to live by the "watercourse way." Which
involves following the flow and also that a river cuts out its bed by
finding the path of least resistance. The poem captures the fragility of the
self against the dangerous landscape of 21st century existence. Excellent
piece.

2. Abbie's piece:

Beautifully executed acrostic. Gardens are so important because they
demonstrate the promise of rebirth of our world every year. And, you can
have your garden and eat it too.

3. Alice's piece:

This is a very clever and fun construction of word play. I also learned some
new groupings of creatures. I was surprised not to see: Covey of Quail or
Gaggle of Geese. Although some people say Bevy of Quail as well. I submit
the following 3 terms for a group of poets though I do like Exclamation:

1. a Pool of poets-
2. a Passel of poets- 
3. a Plurality of poets (which is my favorite).

4. Leonard's piece:

Life is all about "price paying." Another very similar concept is a "trade
off." I think we all find ourselves not always consciously calculating what
I call in therapy "cost/benefit outcomes." In this case, the garden i.e. the
coming of new life and the fulfillment of a promise older than history. The
Earth will bear once again and Leonard will be there to facilitate the
process for as long as he can!
