2. Abbie's piece:

In a few words the piece evokes the beauty of the forest and at the same
time illustrates the daily diminishment of the trees. The saw stopping adds
to the overall feeling of the picture but is also the event causing the
truck of wood to pass by shortly thereafter. 

3. Leonard's piece: 

A whimsical and charming piece. I guess vegetables have their own concerns
and connections. Of course, it nicely uses the rubric of doomed love do to
unequal longevity. It would be a good children's story illustrated and
possibly expanded. It brings to mind the story of "Aldarian & Arendis from
Tolkien's "Unfinished Tales" and Al Stewart's short ditty "Said the apple to
the Orange!"


4. Val's piece:

This is very powerful! Does this take place somewhere out of for lack of a
better term, normal reality? 
I just love this section: "Beautiful, His blue eyes took
away every tear in my heart.
The light between us grew
and the first streak of morning
lit the sky." There is a sense of familiarity for me in these images but I
can't pin down why. Very curious! 

5. Alice's piece: 

It appears that this may be an artifact of "email programs." Lines 7 & 8
appear on the same line of the copy I received, thus:
A "Colossus," once thought of as so "new"-- verses of which immigrants will
not tire. 
Other than that, we have the 3 quatrains and final couplet. A very nice
piece of work. So is the only thing on your current bucket list leaving your
words on a plaque or in stone?
