This is  a terrifically powerful account

of an operation

which was supposed to restore yourmobility.

You dreamed of  running with abandonment.

But in reality you awoke with onlyhopes that your body would somehow heal naturaly.  Someday and that you  would be swift again.

This must have been a process that has been with you for a lifetime.

You dream of being swift

but when you awake and go into thekitchen it is still the same.

As usual,

you say so much with so few words

and communicate your feelings  within that small sphere of words.

                                                         RESTORATION

                                                                       By Sally Rosenthal

Unable to conjure immediate health,

I slip into post-surgery slumber

and let healing occur at its ownpace.

Dreaming, I run with abandon,

full of lightness and well-being.

Waking, I shuffle toward thekitchen,

praying swiftness will somedayreturn.
