I revised my poem when I saw there was a problem with the layout. I wrote
this on the day for T. because I thought that most people didn't grasp the
gentle nature of twilight. I write a new poem for my mother each Mother's
Day. Some are little more than doggerel, but I decided to send you this
year's offering. Sorry, but I sent it too soon. Here is the final version.

My Mother

By DeAnna Quietwater Noriega

They named her Twilight Woman,

Slender and graceful,

She moved softly when she walked.

Her voice was low and tender,

gentle and sweet when she sang.

She dressed in deep purple.

She was above all,

The mother of her five children.

She guided them from the frenzy of childhood days

Into the peaceful rest of nightfall.

Like fragrant Jasmin on soft summer nights

She brought comfort soothing their hurts.

filled their days with her love.

she made their world seem safe.
