Growing Gap




 


I heard her voice the night after 



a faint echo of her presence, 



as she floated far from the world. 



“Please stay,” I begged as she drifted away. 



Time went by, and her face began to fade, 



until I couldn’t see her anymore --



except in the lilies along the way --



or any ordinary time of day.




 


As time flies by, I lose her evermore --



except in unexpected periods --



or sighting someone in a swarm,



sporting something she used to wear. 



Then, I often find I call her name. 




 


I guess all-in-all I’m doing fine.
