My  most heart felt prayers go out to you. Ican’t imagine what you are going through. I’m glad you have writing toameliorate  Your sorrow.

NINE MONTHS

Nine months ago today,

My husband died on

An unseasonably cold

And bleak May morning.

The seasons have beenkind, but it is hardly a boon.

Unrelenting rain pelted

windows at the end

Of the hospitalhallway

As His family and I,

Having left his bodyalone,

Waited for a downelevator.

One of his sisters who

Had spoken little to me

in years uncharacteristically,

Called Me an amazingwoman

As we huddled under

A useless umbrella on

Our way to a waitingcar.

 She was mistaken.

I was in shock and

Thought the weather

mirrored my loss.

Nine months later, it is

A warm February day

With rain rather than snow.

Be it climate change or

Nature’s bewilderment at

the death of one goodman

And at my life still

Turned upside down,

The elemental gods’

Mercies offer smallcomfort.

Maybe theseason’s turning offer solace for the coming months.
