A story about amisundersanding of what an experience meant. The pictures taken could be interpreted as prooving the earth was flat, but actually told the story  of how theworld was round. But the wrong interpretation was accepted and it became theworld view.  But there were those who sawthat it was wrong.  The problem I havewith the story if of how the one time flight to the moon was accomptlished  without realizing that the erth was round. Idon’t see how that was possible. You have to take all of those intoconsideration when plotting a course to the moon..

Jeff studied the gallery ofphotos surrounding the sixty inch monitor on the wall in front of him. Thepictures, taken fifty years ago by astronaut John Skites during the historicalone time flight to the moon,  proved once and for all that the world wasflat.

In the screen saver shot, thesun had been over the center of the earth bathing all the continents and bodiesof water in light. The other, smaller pictures showed the earth with the sunand moon in various positions as they orbited their floating world.

There was no mythical godstanding on a turtle holding it up. It just hung there in space.

Phil, who had been standing inthe doorway, stepped up beside Jeff.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I never tire of looking at it.

Jeff nodded. He reached up andtouched a barely visible line within the sun's rays.

"You know, some peoplestill insist it is round,” continued Phil.

Jeff nodded again, His gazenever leaving the display of photos. "They present some pretty goodarguments. Something about two sticks 100 miles apart casting a differentshadow, and what becomes visible first when a ship at sea comes into view.”

"Ridiculous. It's plainto see that it is flat.” said Phil looking appreciatively at the display. Thenat Jeff. “How is he?"

"He passed a little whileago."

"Did anyone find out whyhe kept saying ‘It is.” Over and over?"

Jeff nodded. "You know?If you look closely, you can tell."

Phil’s eyebrows rose wrinklinghis brow. "Tell what?"

"That It is."

"That It is what? Whatare you talking about?"

Jeff looked straight at Phil."Round,” he said, “and it orbits the sun."
