[DECtalk] better sam 1982

Well, seeing as how sam source code is out there written in c, I'm sure
improvements could be made to its pronunciation and other stuff. You do know
sam if it is made into an NVDA addon and sapi5, will be one of the most
responsive tts's we will have, ever. Sam could run on a comodor 64 computer
with just 64kb of ram maybe even 35kb and a 1mhz single processor. And it
had to fit on a 360kb 5 and a half inch floppy disk. Sam only had around 450
letter to sound rules.

To clarify my statement in the thread below: If a SAPI5 version of Software
Automatic Mouth is created, I would consider trying it out. I don't see
myself using such TTS long-term with screen readers. However, to borrow an
old saying: "You don't know until you try."

retro that it is.

was the first software-based speech synthesizer. I would not want to use
SAPI5 or NVDA ad-on of Software Automatic Mouth because the TTS
mispronounces simple words. I typed the following sentences into the online
version of Better SAM.
