Hi:
I don’t have a modern mac, but, does it also look for roms in a roms folder under your home folder?

OK, I’m on the Mac
. But I thought I could use the ROMs at least. I put the ROMs in the roms directory, and copied all of the ini files and folders over to the Mac version of Mame I unzipped. If I type:
./mame apple2ee -flop1 ../ae/dos33/eamontlk.dsk
I get:
_Modern
2024-11-15 15:06:33.205 mame[2177:156959] +[IMKInputSession subclass]: chose IMKInputSession_Modern
sc01a.bin NOT FOUND (tried in votrsc01a apple2ee apple2e)
Fatal error: Required files are missing, the machine cannot be run.
If anybody has any ideas, I’ll happily try them.
Thanks for the help so far.

A few more thoughts. To put nvda into sleep mode which will wake up when you launch another program, use nvda key plus shift plus s
Also to exit the mame program, scrole lock then hit escape should take you back to the folder. Most of my batch files load 2 disks, so there will be a disk in drive 2. You can do catalog,s6,d2 to see what is there. Also in prodos, if you don't know the prefix of drive two, you can do cat,s6,d2
I think you an also do prefix,s6,d2
Have fun.

O.k., a large file, but here it is. I still have more disk images to do, but the ones I'm doing from my apple 2 e are in a folder called tcp. Have fun. Under butchs batch files are some batch files you can just hit enter on. It is loads of fun. Url is

Can't help with a mac,
I have mame on my windows seven with lots of disk images I'm
making from my 2 e as well as others I've gathered. Sounds and
runs just like a 2 e. Kind of fun.
I can put my whole folder on drop box if you want. Just unzip it
and open the folder and there is the program plus a couple
folders of disks and One I'm making called butch batch files so I
can just run the batch file instead of going to the command line
every time and typing all the stuff needed.

Cool...so...if we get Mame, can we make the IIe emulator to run?

Hi. If you’re going to use Mame on the Mac, your best bet is to probably get it through Homebrew. That it will automatically install all the various required libraries and what not.
You can find home-brew at http://brew.sh <http://brew.sh/>.

Hi,
I have no idea if MESS will even run on Apple Silicon, since the MESS project hasn't been a going concern for years. MESS merged into the MAME project at www.mamedev.org <http://www.mamedev.org> where you can probably find an appropriate download. I've created a MameApple package a few years ago, but only have one for Windows. It does things a bit differently, in particular I think the ROM files are different.

Hi all.
So I grabbed the Mac version of the emulator, unzipped it, put the SDL library in /library/frameworks, allowed mess64, allowed the SDL framework, and allowed terminal to monitor keystrokes, it complained about something but I couldn’t catch the message because it just opened system settings. That was the only app in the table and I didn’t see mess64 in applications to add it.
If I run it like so:
./mess64 apple2ee -flop1 ./ae/dos33/eamontlk.dsk
It says it’s not responding a lot, says something about sdnsync window is sleeping, (again can’t quite tell what this is), and either ends on its own or interprets cmd-opt-esc to enter forced quit as a signal to kill it.
Anybody know the right incantation to get this working? Alternatively, if it doesn’t work on M-seires processors, is there an emulator that does? With Echo naturally.
TIA for any help. I hope it works, I was looking forward to playing some Eamon, and engaging in the Inception of nostalgia, emulating my first Apple computer, the first computer I ever used, on a modern Apple computer. “The circle is now complete”! Well, it will be if I can get it working anyway.
