If the new owner were willing to consider an open-source option, I think
the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 would be their most
attractive choice. It maximizes their commercial revenue opportunities
in ways that other open-source licenses don't. Contributors on GitHub
might agree to that as well, assuming their consent were legally
necessary to include their changes. The Matrix project recently switched
to the AGPLv3 to improve its commercial income opportunities, for instance.

Of course, there are other licensing options available, including terms
custom written by an intellectual property lawyer. I don't think the
Business Source License would be a good fit in this case, and I am not
familiar with the various other options available short of a custom
solution.

I'm not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.
