To me, the ability to get phonetic spellings is more important when reviewing my letters before posting. At least when browsing the board I can usually figure out letters from context. But with the letters in my rack, not so much.

Thanks for the great suggestions!

I like the idea of automatically being moved to the most recent word. That should be pretty easy to implement. Similarly it is supposed to move you to the Start square at the beginning of the game but there is a bug around this that I haven't yet figured out.

With our current protocol, it is not possible to send the current coordinates back to the server without the user pressing enter on a square. This means that a "Where Am I" keystroke, or a keystroke to read the current letter phonetically, are not possible. A protocol update isn't out of the question but it is preferable to avoid this as it would require client updates. I suppose we could just announce the information when you navigate to a square, i.e. "B: bravo: Triple word: coordinates 1,1", but that is a lot of information. Perhaps the phonetic spelling and coordinates could be part of a verbose mode that the user could enable?

I'd like to add to this just a little. It would be helpful, I think, to
either have the game announce coordinates on the grid, or have a where am I
key. If there was a way to let the next player know where the previous word
was placed that would be awesome too, but I don't know how that would work.
Would it be possible, when the game starts, to be placed in the center of
the board in the start position?

I also received a lot of client errors during gameplay, but can't remember
where the log file is saved. I'm really super excited about this game
though!

Oh wow, this is absolutely fantastic. I've been wanting this for ages. Here
are my thoughts:

It would be nice to implement some way of finding where letters have been
placed on the board. Especially at the beginning, you kind of have to go
hunting for the letters that have been placed.

Also, it would be nice if there was a way to have your letter read
phonetically if you want. I have a severe hearing loss, and this is an issue
for me.

Those are my observations at the moment. This is absolutely fantastic.

Hi All,

I am excited to announce that RS Games Scrabble is now ready for beta
testing! This was a challenging game to develop and is one that I had hoped
to complete for quite a while now. I finally have had the time over the past
couple of months to get it to a point where I believe it is testable.

Current Limitations:
* No sounds or background music yet
* No bots (and this is unlikely to change)
* There is a known issue where your focus is moved to the bottom left of the
board after certain actions, such as sending a chat or PM

There may be others I'm forgeting. As always, if you find any bugs or issues
please let me know. When reporting issues, please include your RS Games
username as well as approximately what time your game took place, so that I
can locate the transcript and debug the issue.

The draft documentation can be found here:
http://zanosoft.net/zgp/doc/scrabble.html

As always please do not share details about the new game with anyone outside
of the beta team.

Enjoy!

Mike
