<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">I witness this diminished landscape </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">and see houses where once there were<span style="">  </span>trees --</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">tarmac driveways where once there were scrubs.</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">Now neighbors replace the woolly woods. </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">Though there is something to be said for neighbors, </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">I miss the quiet noise of wilderness,</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">like the cacophony of geese in flight,</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">rather than the clamor of leaf blowers,</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">or the harsh roar of lawn mowers. </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">Straight- lined roofs sans the soft blur of arbors, </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">and the sterile boxy shapes of houses, </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">do not rest quietly in my spirit. </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">Wouldn’t it be lovely to plant a tree,</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">bushes, flowers and other flora, </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">to provide shade and respite for our eyes --</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">to clear our polluted air of carbon </p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">and baffle the noises we live in?</p>

<p class="yiv2821626572MsoNormal">If only the neighbors would listen.</p>
