This poem speaks of ahierarchy of light.

John , Jesus, and theFather.

Each honors the other

yet they are not on the samelevel.

This is a religious poem ofwhich I am not a member,

yet the message is clear,

true andappreciated.

Though the glory of Godilluminates his followers

we must not forget that he isthe pinnacle.

Skillfully demonstrated bythe poet’s story telling ability.

Baptism

We beheld a miracle this day,
John stood in the Jordan
as many were blessed with streaming waters
and then, came a man,
peaceful, yet silently strong, waiting.
John's strident manner
eased as he gazed at the gentle man before him.
"It is I who should be baptised byyou!"
We heard John utter these words
where we huddled on the river bank.
The stranger bowed his head, smiling.
"Let it be as it has it was written."
John's hands trembled as he took water andsplashed it on the man's dark
hair.
What came next awed and amazed us all.
Like parchment, the sky itself opened,
light beamed on the two, surrounding the manbrighter than the sun!
A dove, whiter than Spring clouds, lited on him
as a voice envelopped the river and the earth:
"This is My beloved Son
with Whom I am well pleased."
We learned his name was Jesus,
come from Nazareth,
but,
what of the light, dove and voice that openedthe sky?
Our body is not made of iron, our strength notthat of stone. Live and
hope in the Lord and let your service beaccording to reason.
