[Critique Group 2] reminder and submission

Hi Group2,

Just a reminder that pieces are due tomorrow. Also,  my piece is below.



Late December Rain in Virginia 

 

Bundled to the gills in layered clothing, 

I venture forth into the frigid rainy day,  

my dog Barney tethered to my right hand --

white cane to my left in case I run out of road,

where we were directly assailed by wind and rain.

 

After traveling merely half a block,

Barney turned back. He had enough of this crap.

Poor little feller looked like a drenched frankfurter. 

Returning home, I had a strange inclination, 

rather than struggling out of encumbering gear, 

I would go for a stroll in the weather.

 

I hunkered down in my foul weather layers. 

My mind was taken back to my early school days,

one which reminded me of this dreary day,

in a New Jersey cold wet December morning.

Walking in solitude on my way to school,

despondent, yet content, in my warm, dry gear --

an 82-year-old version of my child self, 

thinking of the interplay of sadness and content.
