Hi group2,

Just a reminder that your submissions are due tomorrow.  Mine is below.

---------

Wouldn’t it Be Lovely

I witness this diminished landscape

and see houses where once there were  trees --

tarmac driveways where once there were scrubs.

Now neighbors replace the woolly woods.

Though there is something to be said for neighbors,

I miss the quiet noise of wilderness,

like the cacophony of geese in flight,

rather than the clamor of leaf blowers,

or the harsh roar of lawn mowers.

Straight- lined roofs sans the soft blur of arbors,

and the sterile boxy shapes of houses,

do not rest quietly in my spirit.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to plant a tree,

bushes, flowers and other flora,

to provide shade and respite for our eyes --

to clear our polluted air of carbon

and baffle the noises we live in?

If only the neighbors would listen.

Wouldn’t it be lovely?
