[Critique Group 2] It's time

Time for your pieces to be due. Mine is  below.

Music Time

 

Three fifteen in a haggard afternoon, 

my brain is tired, so is my mood. 

A chord echoes from the old piano,

as my spouse begins to warm her fingers.

 

“What key?” I ask from my overwork room.

 

Harmony is not what I really want. 

Though long experience informs me 

music is what I definitely need. 

 

“C, your favorite key,” she says.

 

Struggling out of my favorite chair, 

I grab my C chord harmonica,

and sit on a stool waiting for my cue. 

 

“Emily”. Are you ready to play?”

 

I plant the mouth harp on my eager lips

and hit the sweet spot on a first note --

a pure, singular note   sound, whichsoars

Like angels flying through my thirsty soul.

Quickly, I feel my spirits lifted. 

 

I never ever heard of the next song, 

but I follow easily without pause.

 

“Pistol Packing Mama” comes next -- 

a snappy tune which perks my mood.

 

Thirty minutes and I still feel strong. 

But alas, my wife is tired. 

So, I put my instruments aside, 

stroke and massage her shoulders and back, 

in payment for setting my humor right.
