September17 21 Lilac’s Essence

 

 

LateSpring, dew is on the early ground.

I’ve beenpatiently waiting and watching

for theirdelicate cones to burgeon and bloom,

for theirfirst hints of rapturous scent

that lilacsbestow on a ready world,

bequeathingto it a bit of heaven.

 

On this dayflowerlets begin to bloom.

I mustgather some before that ensues,

to glorifymy mother’s urn

and seeeach tiny bud of purple,

toexperience the bursting power

of theirexquisite floral aroma,

and closemy eyes to soulfully hum

in innatesympathetic natural attunement.

 

For tooshort a time their beauty lingers.

Thenslowly, gracefully fades away.
