the world stands still sometimes

judging my worth

water looks back at me

reflective in quiet clarity

While my handkerchief hesitates

to embrace my face

the world waits to learn

whether I welcome each wind

shuttling fancy across the sky

whether I dance with strutting

black crows  between or into

the generosity of rain

the world stands still

In the sanctuary listening

for the rapture and humility

which are my only proof
