the poem I want to write

simple and real and raw

emerges from the shadow of our love

Because love ain’t everything

sometimes there are complications like

Cerebral palsy and

Blindness and

Simply surviving adolescence

The poem I want to write

Would explain why I called you Albert

Because it wasn’t your name

And I don’t remember why any more

Whwhat I remember is you laughing

Saying “you didn’t understand me did you”

And me blushing

Because I understood that

Love ain’t everything

Sometimes there are complications
