<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">So many to whom I’ve said goodbye.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">So many ways to say farewell --</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">to take my leave of this condition. </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">What is not the same about today,</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">not to wish you all a tres bon jour?</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">That suggests another time ahead, </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">a case I cannot presume at all. </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">I can’t take my leave and walk away,</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">when what lies before us is doubtful.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">  </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">So sad, so very sad. </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">My heart is filled with grief, </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">for there is no going home --</p>

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">no form in which to settle,</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">if Earth is not for humans;</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">that lovely bedeviled world </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">which we have loved so dearly.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">That goodbye would empty my soul of hope </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">and fill it with endless longing.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">The catastrophes are without end –</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">drought, floods, whirlwinds, storms, fires, pestilence.</p>

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">For what? </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">a better cell phone, </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal"><span> </span>more sugar in our diets,

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">more toilet paper --</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">more money, and more power?</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">  </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">What will we do when there’s nothing to buy --</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">no food that will grow on a dried bone --</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">no one left to have power over --</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">when even a drink of pure water </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">is only a memory in time?</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">  </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">Surely, we can feel this coming. </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">We are beyond signs and prophecies.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">It is occurring in the here and now.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">The Earth cries out for us to listen.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">Yet we go on in our unknowing ways.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">We congregate in the face of death.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">We refuse to believe in blatant truth. </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">We prefer the wisdom of demigods</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">and those that revel in destruction </p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">that will separate the good from the bad.</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">Good luck on that misguided thought, my friends.</p>

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">Yet, I sit upon a throne of hope</p> 

<p class="yiv5639500115MsoNormal">that no matter how late the matter, </p>
