Sally sub for May 23

This is a short,

but extremely powerful poem

in memory of the writer’s husband.

It reports how his growing limitations made his world gradually decrease,

until , as she so succcincly, describes,

the Sun and Moon stopped.

Anger often masks sadness.

Four years after his death, she drinks to the man to whom she was betrothed.

Devastatingly powerful. Wow?

                                                          MAY 13

Strength diminished year by year,

with anger masking sadness,

he watched his world grow ever smaller

until its moon stopped mid-orbit

and its sun chose not to rise.

Four years on, she smiles and lifts a glass

in memory of the sweet, funny man

she married so long ago and promised

to love in sickness and in health.
