                Inspiration Birds

 

Geese flying in a tight  vee formation

across a chill January sky.

I walk briskly below them to keep warm.

Have they become confused by climate change?

 

A longing for spring sunshine circles

like a flock of migrating robins.

Demanding I write spring into being,

Because it was sunny yesterday.

 

My head fills with a chorus of birdsong.

My thoughts flit and flutter like sparrows.

no peace until I've  netted them in words,

a paean to sunshine and flowers.
