WORD COUNT:   I

f I Only Had More Time

This is the first day of sequester.

I’ll have to find something to fill my time.

I guess I’ll start with getting out of bed,

and start with a good steaming shower,

and a hearty half hour of exercise.

Ah, that felt great! So far, no difference.

It’s time to check the electronic line.

What! So early, and 14 messages.

The first mail is from Gary Kessler,

editor of the Blue Ridge Anthology.

I haven’t heard from him in a dog’s age.

He’s printing an issue of their best authors.

All their writings will be included.

He wants to update my biography.

He needs signed permission to publish,

and a copy of the last published story.

That will take at least two total days

on my old decrepit computer.

Life should not revolve around a machine.

I have to work the garden.

My two dogs need walking.

I must rehab my brain,

which I managed to strain.

Tai Chi practice is required.

I have to spend time writing,

not to mention dining.

I have to do my reading.

My wife is getting cranky.

I have to spend some time with her.

I cannot miss my nap.

Guess I’ll net a flick with her.

Need time to play harmonica,

while she plays the piano.

It’s good for me and my mood.

Ah, if I only had more time.
