Hi All: First of all, in my Alpine addressbook I still have a J Bird address
for this list, which I suppose is gone?
OK, so I installed version 4.99, useing the Linux instructions. After it
needing additional packages, an installation seemed to go well. Seemingly now I
have all these files for platforms such as windows which I am not in since
2006. I appreciate a concept of this version, but maybe a prompt asking which
platform we would want to install? Only once was I able to use "say" to hear
this version-and-yes it reminds me of my old DecPC 4.61. So I want to use it
with speech-dispatcher with Speakup. There is a script which lets you switch
among synthesizers through speech-dispatcher-and-speakup, but I cannot figure
out where the Linux executable is to configure among these tools. Right now
typing spd-say followed by quoted text, I hear Allison 1 of the Voxin voices. I
would love to try this version with Speakup, if I only knew how? Thanks so much
in advance for any guidance
Chime
