Hi,

I got the following message from the people I have hired to make the much older good-sounding decTalk 4.41, 4.51 and 4.60 dlls into a sapi5 version. I recommended they just modify Jake Gross’s IBM-tts sapi5 interface to accept, load, and use decTalk commands rather than eci.dll and IBM-tts and eloquence commands. And if this works I may be able to get the old WillowPond tts dlls as sapi5 also.

Hello,

This is certainly a possibility. We will look into this, as it seems the building blocks have already been built.

Hello,

It may take you far less time if you just modify Jake’s IBM-tts sapi5 interface to load and use decTalk dlls and commands? The github site and all its source code and his simple installer and directions is at:

https://github.com/datajake1999/SAPI5IBMTTS

and to make things easier and less work for you guys, just follow and implement Jake’s directions for installation and uninstallation but just change them slightly for decTalk dlls. Would that help you guys out? And it would also let users adjust speech rate, pitch and other sapi5 characteristics. If modifying Jake’s scripts is much easier for you guys then just do that then. Lots less work for you.

Hello,

Unfortunately we will not be able to implement speech rate and pitch changes.

However, there may be a workaround:

An advanced install wizard. It will automatically configure each time it’s run, and each time it will retain settings from the previous run which were not changed. The install wizard will handle rate and pitch changes. We can also create an optional script that users can run to nudge DecTalk’s rate and pitch

We will also need the documentation for the decTalk dll files, since we can’t link to them without the correct function names, parameters and calling conventions

Regards,

Sightless Wolf Entertainment team.

$500 sounds good that is what I paid about 16 years ago for another text-to-speech project I just forgot about that one up until now.

Hi,

If I send you three decTalk dll files, could you make a sapi5 interface and package them into an installer that would let the user choose their favorite decTalk version during or before installation? Also with ability for all punctuation just to be sent directly to the synthesizer, ability to choose any decTalk voice in other words expose all decTalk voices to sapi5, ability to adjust pitch volume and speech rate according to the range of whatever decTalk’s parameters are. User would have to uninstall decTalk and run installer again to install another version of decTalk
