Hi,
I was recently browsing electronic issues of an old magazine and came across an article apparently from the 1980's about speech intelligibility. The piece also discusses the (then new) DoubleTalk speech synthesizer from RC Systems. While not directly related to Dectalk, I found the article interesting based on the recent discussion on this list about speech intelligibility. I acquired permission from the owner of this list to share the article. He confirmed to me that the publication, Blind Apple Users Discussion, was discontinued decades ago. By Apple, recall the Apple II with rather robotic Echo speech synthesizer. The speech intelligibility/Doubletalk article is the first section in this file. It comes from volume 7, issue 2 of BAUD. I chose to share the entire article, rather than copy/paste the section pertaining to speech intelligibility/RC Systems Doubletalk. I hope some of you find the article of interest.
Blake
