The old decTalk and softVoice are even better. If Espeak can use mbrola in addition to its normal espeak voices, could it not also load and use the old decTalk and softVoice tts?

Hi,

I thought of something. Espeak supports sapi5. And if you install Espeak and ESpeakedit, you get access to both Espeak sapi5 plus all Espeak source code. Plus, Espeak is very responsive sapi5 tts. So my question is this. In order to make a very responsive sapi5 decTalk, and to use the best decTalk available, would it be possible for someone on here to modify the Espeak sapi5 interface so that it loads the decTalk dll, dictionary and voices, instead? I’m not sure what version of decTalk I have, I got the access32.nvda-addon and it’s a nice loud but not too clippy version of decTalk that kind of sounds like the decTalk 4.3 version that I like. So, since Espeak already has a very good stable sapi5 interface, could someone on this list who maybe knows some programming modify Espeak sapi5 to load and use decTalk? And also, perhaps modify it also to load and use SoftVoice dll from that NVDA addon? If decTalk and softVoice could take advantage of Espeak’s stable and very good sapi5 interface then those two tts engines would work excellent! Just an idea.

Josh
