Hello,
Here is the latest 00readme.txt file, just now updated. Assuming
Planetmirror is still actively mirroring the archive, the next time their
mirror script fires this file will be mirrored and all other changes I've
made will take effect at the mirror.
Jayson.

Hello and welcome to the DECtalk Archive! This archive contains
MP3 files, wav files and other types of files where DECtalk and
other speech synthesizers are singing or doing other funny things.
There are also many hardware speech synthesizer demonstrations.
Most anything speech
synthesizer related is welcome here.
This archive was formerly hosted at onj.andrelouis.com, and my
site just had a mirror of the archive. However, on August 17,
2005, the onj.andrelouis.com copy of the archive was shut down and
I officially declared myself to be the archive maintainer.
As of December 22, 2005, file upload is now available. To
upload a file, please connect to the FTP site bluegrasspals.com and
if asked for a username, enter "anonymous" without the quotes. No
password is needed. Once logged in, change to the incoming
directory and upload your file. If your FTP client offers a choice
of Ascii or Binary mode for file transfers, please use Binary mode.
Using Ascii mode to transfer any binary file, such as an MP3, wav,
zip or other non-text file will corrupt the uploaded file beyond
any hope of repair. Note that the upload area is secured. That
is, you won't be able to download any uploaded files, delete them
or overwrite them by uploading other files with the same names. If
an upload messes up and should be removed, please reupload under a
different name and Email me, specifying which file is to be kept
and which file is to be deleted.
When you upload a file, please send an Email to
ratguy at bellsouth.net. In your Email, give your name, the names of
the files you have uploaded, a description if desired, and indicate
whether you plan to upload more files. If so, you will get your
own directory. I also reserve the right to make a directory for
your files if I receive two or more files from you. By default I
will name the directory whatever your name is. If you want
something different just let me know. If you upload a file which
you did not create, please tell me this, otherwise I will assume it
is your creation. If this is the case, please tell me where you
got the file so it can be categorized properly.
Please note that files which might be considered adult or
pornographic material and files which are clearly in breach of
copyright cannot be accepted. Also note that I reserve the right
to refuse uploads for any reason, to remove files from the archive
for any reason, and to change these policies.
Please be aware that this archive is being hosted on a
residential DSL Internet connection, and download speeds from the
archive may be much slower than people might expect.
All files should be assumed to be copyrighted by their
respective authors unless otherwise noted. If any files in this
archive should not be here or should be
moved to another directory or you have a file to contribute, please
Email me at ratguy at bellsouth.net and give me the relevant info.
You are encouraged to join the DECtalk discussion mailing
list. Here we talk about all things DECtalk, making it sing and so
on. To join, simply send a blank message to
dectalk-subscribe at bluegrasspals.com and reply to the confirmation
message. Ignore any references to jaybird.no-ip.info in any
mailing list messages. This list recently underwent an unexpected
domain name change and bluegrasspals.com is the correct domain name
to use.
     Thanks and enjoy the archive!
