[Blindapple] Is it better for a totally blind person to set up their own Iphone 4s?

I am asking this question, because I once had gotten this phone through my local AT&T store; and, they had absolutely no idea even after calling their own company’s disabilities hotline how to set it up for Seri or in the right setting landscape or portrait.  So, I was unable to use the phone at all even with a Braille tutorial on it.  I am currently with Verizon and considering trying the 4s again but would like advice from other totally blind users.
