[Blindapple] About the keyboard.

Hi again,

I didn't receive any disks with the computer. You're saying though, that say I put a game in, if it has textalker on it, it'll make the computer talk automatically?
As for the keyboard, there's no reset button on it. I did press control, and a button with an arrow on it, and I got another beep. The keyboard must be working.
Thanks for all your help.

Hello again,

I need to clarify something. If you received disks with the computer, some
of them probably contain Textalker. Any disk which is supposed to come up
talking has a copy of Textalker on it. So you do not boot from a Textalker
disk, then run another program, in most cases. Programs designed to be
bootable, and to be used with the Echo speech, will have Textalker included,
and Textalker will load at boot time.

As for the keyboard, there's a simple way to test if it's working. I'm
assuming here that the keyboard has dots on the d and k keys, so you can
easily find home row. On the standard GS keyboard, the Reset key is above
the top row of keys, sort of in the center. It's longer, and feels
different, than the other keys. Turn on the computer, it should bing. Find
the Control key, to the left of the a key. Hold it down, press Reset, then
release both keys. If the keyboard is working, you should hear another bing.
At this point, you are in Applesoft Basic. Typing almost anything then
pressing the Return key will result in a syntax error on the screen, and
another bing.
Jayson
