Sorry for not being clear.  The Echo mode uses Textalker.  If you have an old
version of Textalker you can still access the phoneme generator.  The chip still
handles commands in the same way since what has been done is that an echo speech
chip is on the board of the Doubletalk.  To the user is appears that there's an
Echo in the system.  you just use any version of Textalker you have aorund with
it.  Even when you're using the other part of te Doubletalk speech with SDS or
Scat there's a command to change those commands to control the synth to the echo
commands although the Doubletalk system commands actually give you better
control of things.  They are all ctrl-i commands rather than ctrl-e.
