David Shortland from the Land Down Under has been a great help! Thanks a bunch to my new Aussie friend. Now that I have figured out what the hell I am doing a little more, I have a scratch test recording with five tracks: One vocal with one harmony and three guitar tracks. (I duplicated the guitar tracks because they were not loud enough and I couldn’t figure out how to increase the gain. This is my first question: how do I change the gain of each track so I can mix them?

I also want to add some effects to the vocals and EQ my guitar. Where do I find those? Also, I have the metronome working but cannot figure out how to change the tempo. I know these are pretty basic questions but I am a pretty basic dude! (smile) I know it can’t be all that difficult once I get over the learning curve. Learning curves frustrate me! (grin)

Finally, I tried to render what I have to mp3 and I am getting a message that I need to download LAME. There is a download link, but it doesn’t seem to work. I have gone to the LAME download site, have the zip file in my download folder, but when I unzip them I get a message that 36 files have already been download and a query asking me if I want to skip or replace them. I have done both, but the rest of the files don’t seem to load. Pretty lame! Does anyone have a direct link to the LAME download files?

While I am asking questions, how do we access the meters to make sure we are recording at good levels? I checked out the Reaper video tutorials but couldn’t follow the Dude’s “go here!” and “Click there” instructions. Are there any tutorials for nonvisual access? Or do I just keep pestering y’all?

Peace!

Marion from Tampa, florida
