This is like taking a bus around town to go visit your next
door neighbor instead of just walking next door. Have you actually tried
running the Balanced outs into the EMU Balanced ins? Or are you simply
avoiding this due to some theory of not drop down to analog to then reconvert
back to digital? In Theory you could make this work but then you would
loose using the sound card for windows sounds or screen reader. Unless of
course you have a third sound card you could choose in the screen reader
preferences directly. Still will be without windows sound though. Have fun
reinventing the wheel man.
On Jan 9, 2014, at 4:45 AM, Indigo <<A

anywhere in Reaper's preferences, and, with a cable from the computer's SPDIF

pedal directly into the soundcard, no identification that it's coming from the
Helicon pedal; no excuse for the pedal to steal the soundcard's asio
driver.
> As for a newer soundcard, I'll get one of the RME's when I win
the lottery, since its higher end models are the only ones with pristine
preAmps comparable to the 16 16m's.
> Yes, I know the eMu cards are
getting long in the tooth, but mine is the latest one made, only a week before
they were discontinued, with all ceramic caps that never bloat and
leak.
> I have Win7 64 drivers, nothing for Win8 will ever appear from
eMu.
> I may still be using that same soundcard in 2040, with Win7,

And the EMU has really nice PreAmps I can’t see how they cruddy up the XLR
outs of the TC. Another option is to use XLR to 1/4 Balanced cables and use
the balanced line in thus bypassing the PreAmps on the EMU. Or
Sell the Emu and get something with nicer Pres. as that unit is a bit old
these days.
>> On Jan 8, 2014, at 6:59 PM, Indigo <<A
