Reaper 4 is required for the mac. Most windows users are
using version 3.7.8 the last version of version 3. You don't need an
access plug in or rather there is no access plug in for reaper on
the mac. Reaper 4 works with voiceover. I posted this to you on another
list but i'll post it below as well since this is a more appropriate place
for it.

Well i can't speak to midi as i have not used it that way,
but as it pretty much treats audio and midi the same way I imagine its
doable. The Cons at the moment, are the tool bars and tracks aren't in
containers, which means you have to navaite through the toolbar and
through most of a track controls or etc if you move from top of the screen
to the bottom. THis could lead to really high track count projects
getting confusing, but Something like ReaConsole which is part of the SWS
Extensions and Item Chooser which is part of VoiceOver can help you tame
this beast. Also has i pointed out aloof of what we need doesn't have
keyboard shortcuts added by default. So one will have to spend a
great amount of time adding shortcuts to the keycap. That being said
it can be navigated, and while there ins't much in way of software
instruments, (just one synth and one Sampler if memory serves correct)
There is an absolute tone of effects. Eq's Compressors, Chorus, Delays,
Reverbs, Pitch, Tune, etc etc. All are accessible and usable. Also there
is Pitch and playback rate control on a *per track* and Per clip/item
basis and the clip/item based effects are accessible as well. It's
extremely flexible, so when switching from another DAW you may have to
*learn* how reaper does it, or what settings to change to get it to behave
like you are used to. Oh and the best part is custom actions or macros to
automate and speed up work flow. Also features like dynamic split is
useful which goes through a selected area and automatically split out
silence based on a threshold you set and remove the silent clips for you.
Worth a look, but can throw you for a loop at first and definitely may
just be untamable for really large projects

Since Reaper has the
same plug ins on mac and PC, someone here can correct me if i am wrong if
Reaper comes with more soft synths than just ReaSynth and
ReaSamplematic.
On Oct 31, 2013, at 6:23 AM, Jean-Philippe Rykiel
