<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>REaper access is dead in the water
now,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>people are making do with re-access which
officially stopped development at version 3.78 of reaper.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>But people are going ahead and using it with the 4
series, if you like audio editing, then reaper is pretty groogy there, not so
hot with midi,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>my friend Roy says he loves it, but I don't see
many doing midi here yet,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>sonar is still king for most of us,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I know that's a bad thing to say over here, and I
appologize for offending anyone, I love reaper too, but lots of work needs to be
done to get it to the stage we enjoy on the sonar side, everything from
documentation</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>to a re-write of re-accdess,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>but that being said, development is being done with
some third party plug resources with hsc and ahk,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>from our buddy steven and gn luca,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>and different folks,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>and if you have lots of time to mess about, and
want to forge your own path, reaper is nifty.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>If how ever you need to get work done and need docs
and defined ways to do most practical tasks you need from a daw, then keep
reaper as your second.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I use reaper mostly for a slicer dicer and cross
fading audio and sonar for everything else.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>We need to find us a fine programmer who we can pay
to bring us up to speed,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>but in this community I don't know if it'll
happen,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>we're talking the difference between a several
hundred dollars daw and a 50 dollar daw, and the mentallity is a lot different,
kind of like comparing linux open source free to proprietary software
memtallity.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I know I'll catch hell for saying all this
stuff, and be seen as a nay sayer, but I just say it how I see it,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>reaper is a great alternative, but will require a
lot more work and dedication for you to get use out of.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>But this little program is extremely
configurable,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>and has sws extensions, and lots of things to help
you make it what you need it to be, but you better have a geeky mind, even
routing and things like that are not done in a conventional studio wise
manner,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>it'll take some adjusting.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I would suggest you get a tutor if you really want
to pursue reaper.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I don't feel qualified to do anything beyond the
basics though I do teach many things in music technology, I want more time with
reaper.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>But Roy, or Patrick would probably be glad to take
you on for their very reasonable prices and show you the ropes, and there are
probably others here too.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>In the meantime, you have training mode with the
re-access,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>and the email archives to look
through.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Good luck.</FONT></DIV>

Dear all,<BR>> my name is Jean-Philippe Rykiel.<BR>> as you might have
guessed I'm French, in my early fifties, and there is <BR>> a soundcloud
link at the end of this message for those who want to <BR>> listen to
A<BR>> few things I have done.<BR>> My favourite DAW is still sonar on
PC, I bought ProTools, was <BR>> disappointed and gave up.<BR>> And I
came here to Ask about reapers current accessibility level.<BR>> Maybe
someone knows of a thread in the list's archives that explains all <BR>>
this, so if it is simpler, you can give me a link to that thread instead
<BR>> of Rewriting<BR>> things that have been said on this list
before.<BR>> Nice to meet you guys,<BR>> all the best,<BR>>
